Glastonbury Interview // These New Puritans

Noize caught up with These New Puritans ahead of their Sunday set to talk hard drugs, Neneh Cherry and the ‘shit sucking van’…

NOIZE: What day are you playing at the festival?
TNP: Sunday on The John Peel Stage

NOIZE: What can fans expect from your set at this year’s Glastonbury? Any surprises or special features?
TNP:To let you in on one surprise we will be playing with a brass and woodwind section - it’s going to sound massive.

NOIZE: What does it mean for you to be playing at the festival and on its 40th anniversary?
TNP: I didn’t realize it was the 40th anniversary.

NOIZE: Are there any bands playing this year you hope to see play?
TNP: Neneh Cherry

NOIZE: What are your festival survival tips for Glastonbury-goers?
TNP: Take a lot of hard drugs and then you’ll never mentally have to come back from Glastonbury - festival forever

NOIZE: If you could go back and see a band play at a previous Glastonbury, which band/artist would you have loved to have seen?
TNP: Boymerang !!

NOIZE: What do you think are some of the most memorably moments from Glastonbury over the past 40 years?
TNP: My older brother told me a story from when he was there in the early 90s that a shit sucking van was accidentally put in reverse and pumped waste all over somebody - I bet that was memorable.

NOIZE: Why do you think Glastonbury has been so successful for so long?
TNP: I am not Alan Sugar

NOIZE: Anything you want to add?
TNP: I do hope Green Day are playing next year. Thanks
