Glastonbury Interview // Frightened Rabbit

Rounding off this years uncharacteristically sun-soaked festival, Frightened Rabbit chatted with Noize ahead of their set on Glastonbury’s Other Stage…
NOIZE: What day are you playing at the festival?
FR: Sunday
NOIZE: What can fans expect from your set at this year’s Glastonbury? Any surprises or special features?
FR: I think the thing about Glastonbury is it’s unpredictable. I’m happy to go along with that ethos and see what happens.
NOIZE: What does it mean for you to be playing at the festival and on its 40th anniversary?
FR: It means a lot to us. We’ve never been before, so for this one to be the first time will be rather special.
NOIZE: Are there any bands playing this year you hope to see play?
FR: Well of course, we are on right before The Hold Steady. Watching their set is going to be the perfect way to celebrate the end of ours.
NOIZE: What are your festival survival tips for Glastonbury-goers?
FR: Socks are always important. Dry socks will help keep you happy, and if you have that much, everything else will fall magically into place.
NOIZE: If you could go back and see a band play at a previous Glastonbury, which band/artist would you have loved to have seen?
FR: Probably Radiohead when they first headlined in 1997.
NOIZE: What do you think are some of the most memorably moments from Glastonbury over the past 40 years?
FR: There’s obviously all the weird stuff that people remember… Kevin Rowland in a dress, Rolf Harris, Bobby Gillespie being belligerent. But I suppose I’ve only ever watched it from the sofa, so I hope to collect a few highlights of my own this year.
NOIZE: Why do you think Glastonbury has been so successful for so long?
FR: It’s probably down to the fact that it means so much to so many, not least of all the organisers. it seems like such a labour of love.
